October 7, 1991 - June 5, 2022
Richard Ugochukwu Anyah passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on the 5th of June, 2022 at the age of 30, in Bayreuth, Germany.
Ugochukwu was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and fiancé. He was born on October 7, 1991, to Joseph Odinfonor Anyah and Mary Tobechukwu Anyah, in Ibadan, Nigeria.
He lived a fulfilling, creative and adventurous life. He was a lover of books, food, and music. He was an avid reader and writer. He wrote poems, articles and essays, many of which are published in journals, and magazines.
He was a PhD Candidate at the University of Bayreuth, Germany. He was focused on African studies. He studied migration and its consequences, especially the hyperbolic language of migration politics, the role of the informal economy in the demand for migrants and miscegenation of migrant and host cultures. He did important work that has educated many on Africa, a continent he loves.
Ugochukwu was always up for adventure. He loved trying new foods and visiting new places. He was kind, considerate, and friendly towards people he came across. He made so many friends in his lifetime. While we miss him so dearly, we are consoled by the fact that he lived a good life and achieved big goals despite his short time on earth.
He is survived by his parents, his sisters Anwuli Anyah-Kindt and Awele Anyah, brother Ebuka Anyah, his nephew Tobe Kindt-Anyah, niece Olona Kindt-Anyah, brother-in-law Patrick Kindt, and his fiancé Tomilola Amoye.
We ask God and our Blessed Mother Mary, whom he loved and served so dearly, to reward him and grant him eternal rest in their bosom. Eternal rest grant to Richard Ugochukwu Anyah O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. Amen.
